DAY 1: ARRIVE HOBART

Upon arrival at Hobart Airport, proceed to the rental counter to pick up your car. This afternoon is at leisure to explore Hobart. Overnight: Hobart, Henry Jones Art Hotel

DAY 2: HOBART—FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK (148 miles/4 hrs)

Departing Hobart today, travel via the Tasman Highway, passing the towns of Swansea, Apslawn and Llandaff. At Llandaff, follow the signs to Coles Bay. Coles Bay is nestled beside the world-famous Freycinet National Park, where spectacular red granite peaks plunge deep into the ocean. Overnight: Freycinet National Park, Freycinet Lodge for 2 nights

DAY 3: FREYCINET AT LEISURE

Today is yours to explore the region at leisure. The Coles Bay-Freycinet National Park area is home to spectacular coastal scenery, fishing, boating, bushwalking and swimming. Granite mountains rise straight from the sea to form a magnificent sheltered waterway. Walk into the park and climb the mountains for marvelous views across the bay and out across the Tasman Sea. Perhaps drive on the rough roads through the National Park, stopping for spectacular views. Or pull off the road to go swimming in the clear, safe waters of the bay. (B)

DAY 4: FREYCINET—ST HELENS (76 miles/21/2 hrs)

Depart Freycinet National Park today and travel back to the Tasman Highway. Drive through the towns of Bicheno, Four Mile Creek, and Beaumaris to arrive at St Helens. Travel up to the classic 1904 homestead with views across Georges Bay. Overnight: St Helens, Tidal Waters Resort (B)

DAY 5: ST HELENS—LAUNCESTON (105 miles/2 hrs)

Depart St Helens via the Tasman Highway, through the towns of Scottsdale to arrive at Launceston, where you will overnight at a grand 1830s home that is intimate and elaborate. Overnight: Launceston, Hatherley House

DAY 6: DEPART LAUNCESTON

Check out of your hotel and proceed to the airport to drop off your rental car before checking in for your flight.
