On arrival you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. Explore the “City of Sails,” visit Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter & Underwater World, shop or walk around Auckland’s Viaduct Harbor. Overnight: Auckland Day 2: Auckland—Bay of Islands Travel north along the Auckland Harbor bridge and the Hibiscus Coast to the Bay of Islands. Arrive in Paihia and visit the Waitangi Treaty House. Afternoon is at leisure. Overnight: Bay of Islands Day 3: Bay of Islands—Auckland Today, cruise to Cape Brett and the famous “Hole in the Rock.” On your return, stop at Otehei Bay, where you will have a chance to walk, swim or just relax. Return to Auckland. Overnight: Auckland Day 4: Auckland—Waitomo—Rotorua Today, travel south to Rotorua via the rich pastoral province of Waikato, to the fascinating Waitomo Caves for lunch. Enjoy a guided tour of the famous Glow Worm grotto, featuring an underground boat ride. Continue on via Lake Karapiro to Rotorua. Tonight experience a Maori Hangi (feast) and concert. Overnight: Rotorua (D) Day 5: Rotorua—Auckland Today you will experience the many sights Rotorua has to offer. Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve and Maori Arts & Crafts Institute, for a guided tour to see Maori carving and weaving demonstrations. Walk through the Thermal Reserve to see boiling mud pools and shooting geysers. Next, Agrodome Sheep Show and Rainbow Springs Nature Park—a showcase of New Zealand’s flora and fauna and endangered native species. Then begin the trip back to Auckland, arriving approximately 8:15pm.
