DAY 1: ARRIVE PORT MORESBY—TARI VALLEY

Upon arrival in Port Moresby you will be met and transferred to your flight to Tari (flight not included). The Tari Valley is home of the Huli, a colorful and proud people still largely living the same way that their ancestors did. Ambua Lodge is high on the slopes of the Tari Valley, with magnificent views of the valley below and surrounding peaks. Overnight: Tari Valley, Ambua Lodge for 3 nights (L,D)

DAY 2: TARI VALLEY

Enjoy a full day of cultural and ecological touring. The Tari area is home to an incredible 13 species of birds of paradise, as well as numerous orchid species. Learn how the Huli people live and how they interact with their environment. (B,L,D)

DAY 3: TARI VALLEY

Today, enjoy a full day of touring, exploring the area’s spectacular high mountain forests and roaring waterfalls. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: TARI—SEPIK RIVER

Fly over some of the most rugged and impressive landscapes in the world to Timbunke (included). Transfer to the MV Sepik Spirit for a 3-night cruise on the Sepik River. Inspired by the architecture of the "haus tambaran" or spirit house, the MV Sepik Spirit has a truly unique design. Travel to rarely visited areas of the river and its tributaries. Overnight: MV Sepik Spirit for 3 nights (B,L,D)

DAYS 5-6: SEPIK RIVER CRUISE

Two full days are spent exploring the many waterways of the Sepik and its tributaries including visits to traditional Sepik Villages. The Sepik River is one of the largest rivers in the world—in terms of flow. Steeped in mystery, the people of the Sepik area have fascinated anthropologists like Margaret Mead since the area was first visited. Part of the mystery and attraction of the Sepik people is their amazing carvings, now famous the world over. (B,L,D daily)

DAY 7: SEPIK RIVER—KARAWARI

Transfer by river boat to Karawari Lodge. Sitting on a ridge above the Karawari River, the lodge boasts spectacular views over dense tropical jungle. Overnight: Karawari, Karawari Lodge (B,L,D)

DAY 8: KARAWARI – MT HAGEN

Fly from Karawari to Mount Hagen (included), in the upper Wahgi Valley—a valley with some of the oldest evidence of agriculture in the world. Perched high on Mount Kuta is Rondon Ridge, overlooking the Wahgi Valley. Overnight: Mt Hagen, Rondon Ridge for 3 nights (B,L,D)

DAY 9: WAHGI VALLEY

Enjoy a full day exploring the Hagen area. Mount Hagen is the home of the Melpa people, a people with a strong culture, who in the face of moderninity, still live largely a traditional subsistence lifestyle. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: WAHGI VALLEY

Explore the area further today and discover the fascinating Wahgi Valley. In the mountains surrounding the valley lives a stunning array of bird, orchid and plant life. (B,L,D)

DAY 11: MT HAGEN—PORT MORESBY

Depart for Port Moresby this morning (flight not included). Upon arrival in Port Moresby, you will be transferred to your ongoing international flight. (B)
