  • Peppercorn Gallery is co-operatively run by the Peppercorn Artists Group, as a direct outlet for their work. The members work in glass, jewellery, paintings, photography and woodwork, which is supplemented and diversified by a range of other quality work by Tasmanian craft artists including ceramics, textiles and cold bronze sculptures. Located at 58 Bridge Street, Richmond, in the quaint heritage ‘Mill Cottage’, just 100 metres from the historic convict built Richmond bridge and only 30 minutes drive from Hobart.   • Salamanca: Colourful characters come out in full force every Saturday, from 8.30am to 3.00pm, at Hobart’s Salamanca Market. You’ll find some of the best arts and crafts, food and flowers produced in Tasmania. The Market offers a shopping experience with a difference - one of those special places where you actually meet the people who create, make or grow what they sell. Buy anything from a handmade wooden toy to a handspun, hand-knitted sweater to a 50-year-old china plate.
  • The streetscape is famous for its historic Georgian warehouses, dating back to the 1830s. Many of these warehouses have been converted into galleries, theatres, cafes, craft shops and restaurants. The market highlights the creative skills of the local craftspeople in an atmosphere that is inspiring, innovative and entertaining. While strolling through the market take a look at Kellys Steps. These were built 1839 by the legendary adventurer, sealer, and whaler James Kelly to link Salamanca Place with historic Battery Point.
  • Evandale: In the north of the State, the major open-air market is in historic village of Evandale, 20 minutes south of Launceston, held every Sunday from 9.00am - 2.00pm. This popular country market has over 100 stalls offering a wide variety of fresh produce, crafts, bric-a-brac, antiques, plants and much more.
  • Don Village: Situated opposite Don River Railway in the Devonport area, specializing in homemade crafts and produce. Approximately 50 outdoor and undercover stalls - homespun goods through to the garden enthusiasts. Held every Sunday from 9.00am - 3.00pm.

Stroll down Salamanca Place in Hobart, through Launceston or along the streets of Richmond, Evandale, Hamilton, Stanley or Strahan to find quality art and craft on display. Or call in to the roadside studios of potters, wood carvers, glassmakers, painters and sculptors - often you can meet the artists themselves and see them at work. Take a favorite piece of local craftwork home - the fragrant scent of Huon pine or the sea-blue glaze of a hand-thrown platter will be a fine souvenir.

  • The Tasmanian Wood Design Collection brings together the beauty of Tasmania's natural timber resources and the design skills of the State's fine craftspeople through a strategy, which has brought international acclaim to the Island and Australia. In ranging from elegant pieces of furniture to delicate smaller items that may be found in anyone's home, it represents a near-perfect relationship between design craftsmanship and wood which will awaken in the viewer surprise, intrigue and delight.   • The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery is the largest museum and art gallery in Australia located outside a capital city and is administered by the Launceston City Council, with continuing financial support from the Tasmanian State Government. It enjoys an enviable reputation and national profile for its collections of Australian colonial art, contemporary craft and design, Tasmanian history and natural sciences. Special features include a Chinese Temple, Planetarium and now, the interpretation of one of Tasmania's most intact nineteenth century industrial environments, the Launceston Railway Workshops. The Museum Shop stocks a range of books, cards, posters, gifts, and science toys, relating to the Museum’s activities and collections.   • Salamanca Arts Centre is located in the heart of Hobart's historic Salamanca Place behind the walls of five impressive Georgian warehouses and one historic cottage is one of the most exciting, lively and innovative art centres in Australia. The Salamanca Arts Centre is home to a great many art and craft, as well as artists, craft people and art organizations. Open 10.00am-5.00pm daily, 77 Salamanca Place, Hobart.
  • Handmark Galleries showcases the best of Tasmania’s craftsmen and women. Since 1980 Handmark Gallery's founder and director, Pat Cleveland, has sought, found and encouraged an extraordinary range of talents from the Tasmanian art and craft movements. The gallery maintains a varied stock of ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood and textiles, together with paintings, works on paper and sculpture. All the work at Handmark Gallery is Tasmanian in origin and unique in its styling. It is accredited by Craft Australia and carries the Craftmark industry mark.   • Stanley Artworks. Mark Bishop and Toby Muir Wilson design and make contemporary objects from Tasmania’s finest timbers. Their works range from small decorative art objects through to complete domestic and commercial interiors. Stanley Artworks Studio Gallery, Van Diemans Land Company Store, Wharf Road, Stanley.   • Forest and Heritage Centre. The story of Tasmania's forests, changing exhibits and handmade quality woodcrafts. A great start to the Tahune Forest AirWalk and Hartz Mountains. Open 9.00am – 5.00pm daily, except Christmas Day. Located on Church Street in Geeveston.
  • The Deepings Woodturner. The home of the world famous Deepings Dolls. Adrian is nearly always at the lathe turning everything from lace bobbins to large burl bowls. Located near Cygnet in the Huon Valley, workshop is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm, except Sunday, 12.00 noon to 5.00pm.
  • Potters Croft Pottery Gallery features the best of Tasman Peninsula and Bream Creek pottery, weaving and wood. Located in Dunally on the Port Arthur Highway, you will find a Café, Gallery and county accommodation.
  • Tasmanian Wool Centre is renowned for high-quality wool garments and craftwork. Through guided tours, the centre relays the story of the wool industry in town and brings visitors to the workspaces of talented artisans. Located on Church Street in Ross, open daily.
  • Lamont Weaving Studio in Derwent Valley Central Highlands continually operates three looms to weave some of the world's best garments, rugs, scarves, hats, and stoles from hand dyed yarns. Visitors are always welcome to the studio to see actual weaving in progress - on most days. Specializing in Tartans hand dyed and hand woven in finest mohair.   • The Tasmanian Craft Fair. The largest and oldest working art and craft fair in the Southern Hemisphere is held annually in Deloraine. This year’s dates are 29th October -   1st November 2004. Deloraine, historically a rural community, set at the foothills of the Great Western Tiers, with a population of 2500 people, provides a unique experience for the visitor at Craft Fair time. This nationally acclaimed community welcomes, entertains and caters for 30,000 people at the annual event.
