Whare Kea Lodge captures the full beauty and grandeur of the Southern Alps and Mt Aspiring National Park whilst providing the ultimate in sophisticated accommodation for its guest. First class cuisine is provided on a table d’hôte basis using only the finest and freshest quality ingredients. The wine cellar is comprehensive, show-casing the best NZ wines available. Just a short drive from the Wanaka Township means easy accessibility to ski resorts, heli-skiing, airport (famous for its Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow) Mt Aspiring National Park, and the lake itself. Be it summer or winter, activities abound.

In addition to the Lodge we now have a new and unique offering exclusive to guests of Whare Kea Lodge. The opportunity to enjoy and overnight stay at our luxurious, high alpine Chalet.

Accessed via a scenic helicopter flight from the front lawn of the Whare Kea Lodge, the Chalet is located high in the Buchanan mountain range beside the Mt. Aspiring National Park. The Chalet is a true extension of the luxury and comfort of Whare Kea Lodge and was conceived to maximise the breathtaking views without impacting on its environment.

Accommodation –Whare Kea can sleep up to 12 guests in two master Suites and four deluxe double rooms. Each room faces the lake and mountains and has its own luxurious bathroom with bath and separate double shower, lounge chair, writing desk, AESOP toiletries, walk-in dressing room, Bose stereo system and broadband wireless internet access.

Local Attractions Both summer and winter offer many attractions from heliskiing and resort skiing to trout fishing, hiking and climbing, vineyard tours, cafes and shopping. Hot summers and snow packed winters means there is something to appeal to all. Nestled in 70 acres of private farmland on the shores of Lake Wanaka, Whare Kea Lodge offers the ultimate in scenery and seclusion.

Finding your way Whare Kea Lodge is just a 7 km drive from the township of Wanaka and 1 hr 15 minutes from Queenstown. Flights from Queenstown to Wanaka is only a 18 minute helicopter charter flight directly to Whare Kea’s front lawn. Whare Kea also has it’s own helipad for direct and easy access.   Also available,  rental cars from Queenstown airport.
